I’m 50 plays in (which is like 200 for board game reviewers) and I feel I can quickly read my hands, form a strategy and make the most each game has to offer. The initial player places two cards down – dividing them between a pair of selection areas (or even stacking them together).

By round 4 you will want to ensure that you are able to maximise your scoring and stretch yourself so nothing you produce is wasted. Though, to be fair, there are a number of cards that do capitalize on it, so, perhaps it’s worth having some of it around just in case you go that route? So, a card may produce four blacks, but it has one yellow negative production which makes it a lot harder for you to make enough yellows to build yellow cards.I also try and recycle enough to get a building up before production on the first round, especially if it produces materials. The game will build up and you’ll be able to do so much more by round 3 than you thought possible whilst playing round 1.

If you produce gray, and use those grays to build a card that produces black or green, during the black or green production phase that card will activate, even though it was built this turn. Once you complete all 5 resources, the card upgrades earn you supremacy bonuses during production, recycling bonuses and eventually 15 victory points. Each player looks at their hand of cards, chooses one to keep and then passes the remaining cards to the left (rounds 1 and 3) or right (rounds 2 and 4). Some give you a base number of VPs, and some give you, for example, 2 VP for each black building you have.My only concern is minor, and it’s that I have a sense that the game may start to feel repetitive without expansions to add new cards. I love the theme and the cards really all stand out and provide some great graphics to enjoy in your hand. If you're cunning you can avoid this being a big penalty either by reducing production in colours that you don't even have positive production for, or making the most out of your production in a certain colour, building some cards and then diminishing the production once it's no longer needed. Before the start of the following Production phase that will allow players to produce resources and build cards, each player must choose among the cards in his Draft area which one(s) to place in his Construction area and which one(s) to discard to get bonus resources. One is a new way to score points by advancing a track, and the other is a way to finish your cards faster.

The game has multiple modules – quests, advisors, menaces (and even conquest with the available expansion). It’s a Wonderful WorldIt’s a Wonderful World may be one of the strangest names for a game, especially one where the theme doesn’t exactly pop of the cards, but when the game is one of the best drafting games of recent years it doesn’t matter. There are also some really expensive, but very high point cards that can also give you something to aim for. On its own, it's a pretty large box full of air, but throw that expansion box away and you're left with new cards that are easily added to the game (you don't even need to shuffle them together) and a lovely dry erase scoreboard that adds to the utility of the game too.

My thing that could be better is that I think it should be that format for the regular game as well, giving you more card choices throughout. At the conclusion of each campaign, there are booster packs to open that give you cards to add to your base deck to incorporate the twists of the campaign into your copy of It’s A Wonderful World. You will produce the materials cubes first, so you will want to prioritise cards that can be built in time for their production to be useful that round. My son and I played through both campaigns as two-player games… and while he emerged victorious (twice!
