So you can start with 80 Hz and then try 70 Hz, if you consider that the speakers sound better with 70 Hz crossover do that It will obviously be less overlapping. I was impressed with the sound quality, not really a ‘High-End HiFi’ sound but much, much better than one would expect from Bluetooth speakers. The 'port open' curve shows clearly the reduction in driver output at the port tuning frequency (around 30Hz, which is pretty low) and the 'port closed' curve shows that, measured in such a manner, the A300 has a -3dB LF cutoff at around 45Hz, so its published spec (with the port open) of 40Hz is perfectly believable. Now, I had no problems with the cable and its plugs, but I do think the decision to use DIN for a speaker power-amp connection is questionable.

The active speaker has a high efficiency Class D amplifier with digital signal processing (DSP) system, powered by an efficient power supply. The A80 horn-loaded ribbon tweeter continues in the tradition of the flagship 7001 near-field monitor speakers. Well, the wobbly optical port connection and the sound output from the same is front and centre, the clinical Bluetooth output is another piece of evidence. And please Airpulse, if you’re going to use blue LED’s in the front, please at least make it dimmable. While the RCA inputs seem to perform fine, the A80s are aided by all of that external technology: the turntable and the external phono amplifier.

WITH APTX: The Airpulse A300Pro features a QCC3031 chipset from Qualcomm, incorporating Bluetooth V5. Inside, beside the Class D amplifier, is pyramid soundproofing foam, to reduce resonance while, at the rear is an unusual, oval vent tube. Having said that, it's only above 10kHz that the effect becomes really apparent — at 15 degrees, anyway. The input sample rate is up to 192 KHz and the amplifier’s 768 KHz output PWM carrier frequency is twice the 384 KHz of a traditional Class-D amplifier.Inside, there are reinforced structural supports that reduce vibration and distortion within the enclosure which is intended to reduce sonic resonance as much as possible. The measured performance here is fine, although SVS subs that I have tested in the past tended to have less distortion than what either of these subs could be pushed to.
