I spent the whole book SURE of it, stumbled a little bit when Commander Rip and King Rot were in the same room (but held on to the small details that made me think Rip was a decoy), but the confirmation at the very end? As I put in my review for ‘Gild’, maybe it’s just because I was on a plane when I was reading it but I enjoyed the story and characters and was interested to see if ‘Glint’ would live up to its predecessor. I will get book 3 now, hoping to like it as much as I did book 1 (which was much more than this one. I loved the context and information about the world of fae we get and how the writing fully immersed me in the book while I was reading it. I cannot wait to see where the romance is going to go and where the story is going to go, but I know one thing for sure. Rip, the mysterious and intimidating Commander of the army, more directly incites Auren’s journey of self-awareness.She is a captive, but she is not in a cage, nor is she insulted or treated like an object or a whore. The Plated Prisoner series is a dark reimaging of the story of King Midas and I was completely obsessed with it.

I’d love to read more about them in a more settled way to see how they can use this to their advantage, and I can’t help but wonder if many of these people chose to take on this role. I had to stop myself from picking up the third book, Gleam immediately because the end of this was such a ride that I just have to know what happens next. I like it actually – Auren has been used and abused by someone she loves/d and who claims to love her but really has other reasons and she needs to reclaim herself. But it won’t be long and I’m so glad I decided to get all the books together because Raven Kennedy as a habit of stopping at the most inconvenient places!
