But even when Gardner Fox, John Broome, Carmine Infantino and Sheldon Moldoff were replaced on Batman (in 1968), the first guys hired were Frank Robbins, Irv Novick and Bob Brown who had all been working in comics since the 1930s and 1940s.

Then Barry was Dead and Wally was Flash, Hal grew the white temples, Superman was rebooted with Man of Steel. By the 1960s, they've worked it out and there are set conventions and formulas to how it should be done--they've mastered the language. The spoiled but gifted Damian assumed the mantle of Robin and acted as an antiheroic foil to both Batman and the previous Robins. Some of these Age Omnibus volumes are also published as two or three (depending on page count) trade paperbacks. T]he way I heard the story from Sol was that Goodman was playing with one of the heads of Independent News, not DC Comics (though DC owned Independent News). Some people tend to ignore Batman stories written before this, which is a pity, because I really enjoy Bronze Age Batman. Editor Jack Schiff soon made the Superman-Batman team a regular feature in WORLD'S FINEST, where Hamilton wrote the majority of stories until 1966.

On Marvel's side, there was an increased emphasis on characterization and the 'shared universe' concept being cemented - both of which DC gradually adopted. Like I said they had time Travel since the mid 40s, and Brane Taylor (the Batman from the year 3051) also appeared the frist time in 1951.Director Christopher Nolan successfully relaunched the Batman film franchise with Batman Begins in 2005. With the popularity of the Batman television show in 1966, publishers that had specialized in other forms began adding campy superhero titles to their lines. It's kind of fitting that the first new villain of the Silver Age was such a throw back to the Golden Age. One of the few most-selling American comics publishers in 1956, Harvey Comics, discontinued its horror comics when the Comics Code was implemented and sought a new target audience.
