I'd use this in the same manner as I'd use a Drum Gun, or a Suppressed SMG: good for following up after a shotgun blast at close quarters, and good for suppressing the enemy; but compared to the other Assault Rifles on offer, even a Gold Tactical AR is very weak at longer ranges. Bullets can be hitscan (which is an instant connection) or a projectile, which moves at a set speed with a physical object in the world. If you play like me, you always want to have a close-range weapon in your inventory. While many prefer shotguns for such encounters, I've found the Compact SMG gives me a better chance of winning gun battles. Shotguns are brutal but slow, whereas the Compact SMG gives you a big magazine and almost unrivaled firing rate, meaning anyone who strays too close can be eliminated swiftly with plenty of the clip left over for their teammates. Kymera Ray Gun Your other close-range options include SMGs and pistols. The silenced pistol is strong, but is better suited to mid-range battles because of its lower damage (see section below). SMGs are decent, especially the tactical variants, and are more versatile than shotguns. But you should only lean on them early in the game when you don’t have an assault rifle to deal with enemies at mid-range. Up close, shotguns better them. Fortnite's best rifles: SCAR and burst-fire assault rifle The only real downside to the SCAR is that it’s almost like a strange curse to find it early on. Other players will hunt you down to get their hands on it if they hear you firing, as well as medium bullets not being all that common early on. Still, if you can reach the mid-game with a SCAR in your inventory alongside your hopes and dreams, you’re setting yourself up for glory.

You can gulp them down in no time for 25 shield points, and although they can only give you a maximum of 50 at a time, they’re perfect for keeping you sustained between firefights. The standard shield potions, which grant you 50 points apiece, are good too, but generally you won’t be carrying them around because you’ll use them as soon as you see them. Ammunition is used to reload many types of weapons. Ammunition can either be internal or external, with external ammunition being the most common. External ammunition is found as Floor Loot and used to reload weapons which use the corresponding ammo type: You have five inventory slots, and ideally you want to fill them with five of the following six item types, depending on your play style: The unofficial mascot of Fortnite has been having a tough time of it of late. As well as being constantly nerfed with the controversial double pump strat being taken out of the game seemingly for good, it’s also had some competition from other weapons to almost replace it, to make it not the only viable weapon for close-quarters. Despite all that, the Pump is still going strong.

One of Fortnite’s most recent weapons, the Drum Gun has found itself elevated in the meta of late. An SMG/rifle hybrid, the Drum Gun (basically a Tommy) is able to deliver huge damage at mid-close range and isn’t terrible from a little distance, either. It’s also capable of tearing through structures, especially with the formidable size of its clip which can take fifty shots before needing a reload.Weapon spread is decreased when crouching or aiming down sights, and increased when moving or jumping. Scopes have no weapon spread, You wouldn’t believe that the Compact SMG has already been considerably nerfed if you use it now. At release, it was a bit of a joke and the most unbalanced weapon introduced to any competitive game. Nowadays it isn’t quite as strong, though it’s still more than capable of causing a lot of mayhem to opponents and structures. People are begging for it to be removed, and it’s easy to see why.

Heavy Bullets: Used for weapons which deal a high amount of damage per shot, like most Sniper Rifles and some Pistols. Damage is not the same as Structure Damage, which can be different to the damage weapons deal to opponents. Weaponry is not a strictly defined category in Battle Royale, but it can be inferred from different categories of items in the game. As a general rule, a weapon must: As the name suggests, burst assault rifles fire in three round bursts, while a basic assault rifle is full auto. The burst has some accuracy pros as a result over distance, but the class does have a lower damage and firing rate overall. Seeing as you can recreate the effects of a burst rifle with an assault just by tapping the trigger, it's worth swapping out for an assault rifle if you get a chance. Rarer Fortnite guns are always best, but DPS beats damage if you’re a poor shot Perhaps controversially the only sniper rifle to make the list for the best Fortnite weapons, the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle has been around for the longest time as it’s a dependable and rewarding gun to use. It takes a little bit more skill than most weapons and can create some boring situations in the final circle, but that’s just because everyone knows that one shot to the head with it is a death sentence.Fortnite boasts a vast number of weapons that can all be found throughout the game's various locations. Players can search chests and vending machines, inside of which loot can be found. Amongst this loot, players will find weapons, healing jugs, and other items. The contents of loot chests are a surprise each time. The location of these chests are fixed, however, and only a certain number will appear at a time.

Vaulted until January 2019's V7.10 Patch Notes, the Dual Pistols leave the standard Pistol in the dust, with a far greater damage able to eviscerate the health and shields of an opponent with only 2-3 landed shots. For all intents and purposes they are a two-shot burst weapon. So take a little extra time to aim, and you'll be well-rewarded, particularly if you land headshots with both shots. Obviously they won't outperform a good shotgun or SMG at close range, but they're a punchy utility weapon and a surprisingly powerful killer in the early game. The Heavy AR is a monster in terms of damage. It has the ability to shred an enemy at close, medium and even long range, but its accuracy means that, as with all assault rifles, you shouldn't just hold down the fire button until you run out of bullets. A slower rate of fire, slower reload time, and reduced magazine size all attempt to mitigate the sheer power of this gun, but the truth is a Blue Heavy AR is arguably worth taking over a Gold SCAR as things currently stand. Remember, flat damage is king in Fortnite, as long as you know how to use it. The higher the rarity, the more powerful the weapon. A Uncommon weapon of one type, may not be more powerful or harder to find than a Common version of another. The poor old Tactical. Forever the bridesmaid, never the bride. With the v9.00 Patch Notes each variant of the Tac received a decent damage buff, and the removal of the Pump Shotgun meant it might finally see the light of popular play. Alas, the Combat Shotgun is superior in nearly every way, and the Tac is left outranged and (for once) slower than its competition. But it's still a powerful damage-dealer that can easily end a fight up close and personal, so be wary against players with a good Tac Shotgun.

The Combat Shotgun is a hybrid of the Tactical and the lost-but-not-forgotten Heavy Shotgun. Its fire rate surpasses even that of the Tactical, giving it the best DPS of the class despite its slightly lower damage than the Tac at times. What's more, it has a shorter reload time thanks to its ability to reload 2 shells at a time. Plus it can hold more ammo before having to reload. Plus it's got a crazy tight spread, which improves its effective range beyond what the Tactical or the Pump could ever have hoped to achieve. It's a great addition to the Shotguns roster, and for the time being it'll no doubt prove the close-range weapon of choice for many. Although many shotguns do not need to be fully reloaded to fire, they still have their Reload Time listed as a full reload from an empty magazine. Consumables are items that have an effect, then disappear. Many consumables are used to deal direct damage to players, in a similar vein to some Explosive Weapons, and many heal Health and/or Shields.
