Description

Those were the words of CharJenPro’s co-founder, Charlie Yoo, when I confirmed that I’d be featuring his magnetic iPad stand in this review.

The MagFlött has a lot going for it. It’s made from solid aluminium and features a microfibre-lined magnetic surface to which your iPad safely attaches. There’s full 360-degree rotation on offer, enabling you to position your iPad either horizontally or vertically, and it can be tilted at virtually every angle, too. When shopping for an iPad stand, it's important to keep in mind what size screen it has. Fortunately, most stands are adjustable, so they can accommodate small tablets like the iPad mini as well as big-screened ones like the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. However, some stands are incapable of holding certain tablets, depending on how big or small they are. Form Factor Special mention must also go to Benks for being the only manufacturer on this list that has thought of my favourite iPad of all time – the iPad mini 6. Using an iPad makes many of our tasks much easier, and our daily lives a little bit better. We take them almost everywhere; they’re our digital assistants. However, there’s not a single person who’d like to hold an iPad 24/7. And therein lies the need for iPad arm mounts. There are two ways to use it. You can either connect the supplied USB-C cable between the hub and your iPad or connect the hub directly to your Mac. The former allows you to use all of the ports on the hub within iPadOS, from the HDMI output to the ethernet connection. The latter switches access to those ports to the Mac, but you’ll lose the ability to charge the iPad directly from the hub. The X36 iPad armstand excels in offering an unparalleled user experience by combining simplicity with flexibility. The intuitive design of the stand ensures attaching the iPad is a breeze. The white line on the stand pad serves as a clear guide, allowing users to easily secure their iPads in the correct alignment. Beyond the simplicity of attachment, the stand shines in its mobility. It’s easy to maneuver, enabling users to seamlessly adjust the iPad’s position according to their comfort and convenience. Whether you are working at your desk, cooking in the kitchen, or relaxing in bed, the stand’s flexibility allows you to use your iPad in a multitude of scenarios without any hassle. The stand maintains its stability and secure hold in every setting, ensuring users can interact with their iPads freely and with confidence. Pricing, availability, & final thoughts The iBeani Tablet Holder is something quite different from other tablet stands we have tested. It’s a small bean bag, available in a dazzlingly wide range of colors and patterns (over 21), that is altogether less metallic and angular than the rest. It wasn't that long ago that serious digital artists needed a Wacom or similarly drawing-focused tablet. That is no longer the case--- all you need is an iPad and a drawing stand like the MAX SMART Tablet Drawing Stand. Clearly, this product means a lot to CharJenPro, and their enthusiasm for it reveals how transformative this type of iPad accessory can be for users.

However, you can’t do much more than watching videos with this iPad arm. Because of gravity, it’s basically impossible to use your iPad while it’s in the desk mount. It’ll undoubtedly wobble and shake. If you need to tap and use your device frequently, you might want to reconsider buying this product or invest in a stylus. Key Features Rather than using this as a Mac hub (losing the iPad charging is a bit of a bummer in that scenario), it does present a rather awesome use case for anyone who wants to turn their iPad into a fully-fledged multiport device, complete with SD card slots, USB-A 3.1 inputs, and a 4K@60Hz HDMI output. There are so many iPads out there, it can be hard to identify the exact model you own. Do you have the iPad Pro from 2017 with the 10.5-inch screen? Or the 9.7-inch one from 2016? It doesn't help that Apple avoids the sequential naming structure it uses for the iPhone. But no matter. The Infinity stand is the cheapest option on this list, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to sacrifice build quality if you opt for it. Just like every Benks product I’ve tested, the Infinity is built like a tank. The hinge is stiff (possibly a little too stiff) and the magnets confidently take a hold of your iPad. In my experience, iPads have to fight hard to play a role in whatever it is you’re doing. And Apple knows this, which is why they keep integrating the iPad more wholesomely into the ecosystem.

Most iPads are supported (bar the iPad mini) and there’s a useful slot for your Apple Pencil, too. The case is microfibre-lined, scratch-resistant, and relatively lightweight, but it inevitably adds some bulk to your iPad. This all-metal stand by UGREEN is a must-have for those who frequently use an Apple Pencil in a plethora of scenarios — from taking notes during a meeting to making edits to photos and videos, all the way to working on elaborate graphic design and illustration projects. Its hefty metal base and wide iPad holding surface with silicone padding to keep it in place will always keep it in place. This stability is crucial for getting the most precise inputs out of Apple's iconic stylus. The iPad holder's cutouts also help the device stay cool during demanding tasks like editing high-resolution video, among others. iPad accessories are endless. Here are some other options that are perfectly fine—though some have issues that put them down a rung.

It will sit on a desk, but probably makes more sense on a bed or on your lap or for use in bed. Sitting on the couch for a video call, the iBeani comes into its own. Once I got it set up I noticed that the stability of this iPad arm stand was amazing. Each hinge and axis was extremely sturdy; it held up in any position. The magnet strength was on another level. The iPad fits securely on the magnetic plate and the strength of the magnet allows you to adjust the arm very easily without accidentally popping off the iPad. Versatility & adjustability I opted for the iPad mini version, which fits the iPad mini 6 perfectly. Indeed, if that’s your iPad of choice, the Infinity is the only magnetic stand on this list to cater for Apple’s tiniest tablet. And trust me, if you think the iPad mini is too small to justify a stand, think again; I’ve loved having the ability to perch mine so elegantly and safely next to my iMac while working away in the kitchen. Both of these features are brilliant methods for integrating the iPad into your daily work, but they’re rather incomplete without something to place your iPad on – hence the need for some form of stand. As much as I want to integrate iPads into my daily work and leisure time, they’re so easily sidelined, thanks to the comfort of macOS on my M1 MacBook Air, and the ease with which you can do everything on an iPhone these days.

This stand also comes with a stylus, so you can control your iPad without touching it or shaking it. It’s compatible with most 7-13 inch tablets and has port access, so you can charge your laptop while it’s in use. Key FeaturesWe like that the stand will not only adjust its height and viewing angles but also allow you to rotate it 360 degrees. The last-mentioned functionality is incredibly helpful for sharing onscreen content at school and work.
